Education Scenario Gujarat

Over the years importance of education is accepted both individually and socially. India in its strides towards global leadership has been making all-out efforts to attain 100% literacy for all.

In India 81.5% of household population aging 6-17 years in urban areas has been attending schools, as compared to 69% household population in rural areas. According to 1998-99 statistics, 49% of females and 26% of males aged six and above are illiterate.

Gujarat has attained 67.7% of male literacy        and    53.6% female literacy – and   ranks 13TH and 18TH respectively in India. In Gujarat, 78.3% of household population aging 6-17 years in urban areas has been attending schools, as compared to 63.2% in rural areas. In Gujarat only 59% and 41% of Muslim population aging 8-20 years attending schools in urban and rural areas respectively. 

  • In Gujarat in Muslim community, one of the major problems is neglect towards education.
  • It has given birth to an evil called school drop outs.
  • School drop out cases are found to be highest in Muslim community.



In 2006 TEACH has undertaken a project about drop out students of Muslim community.

To study and find out the reasons of the   drop-out among Muslim students of Vadodara.

To devise suitable short-term and long-  term  intervention programs based on above findings to reduce drop-out rate.

Mission

 In order to achieve a goal of elevating Muslim student’s educational and professional career, TEACH will work towards eradicating school and college drop out tendency, encourage parents and the students for taking up studies with zeal and vigor, to help Muslim schools to improve its standards and quality, to  create total education awareness in the masses of the community and to ensure that young boys and girls opt for basic, higher and lifelong education at all levels and traits to become enlightened citizens of India.

To advise, counsel, and guide Muslim students of Baroda-Gujarat to undertake higher studies and build their career in honorable professions in order to uplift the socio-educational identity of Muslim community in the society and to make TEAM a leading Non-Government Organization in the task of bringing education revolution in the Muslim community.
